Karl Anthony Campbell

Karl A. Campbell, 32, of Georgia, Louisiana, and Virginia, passed away on July 18, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. Karl was born in Fairfax County, Virginia on July 27, 1983. He graduated from Madison High School in Northern Virginia and continued his education at Hampshire College, Massachusetts, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree. Possessing an adventurous spirit, Karl worked in several university research positions before moving to Savannah, where he met the rest of his heart, Cristina Scott. They have been together for six years.

Karl enjoyed reading an enormous variety of books and topics, trips to the zoo, dinosaur research, fair-trade coffee, classical music, philosophy, and debating almost anything. While in high school, he played tuba in the symphonic and marching bands, as well as the state band. As a member of Boy Scout Troop 168, he earned the rank of Life Scout. As a youth, he enjoyed nature and marine biology camps, as well as fencing and playing baseball.

Karl is survived by his wife, Cristina Scott; his son, Maxim Scott; mother, Aileen Campbell; grandmother, Margaret Campbell; uncle, Joseph Campbell; as well as his aunts, Marla Campbell and Bonita Kidd.

Final interment will be in Virginia, on a date still to be determined.

Karl’s family wishes to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital for their abundant kindness and care throughout his illness.
